Healthcare and Government Employees

Anyone with half a brain knows this healthcare bill will kill the country.  And the experts are saying it will force out private health insurance companies.  But people are critical that Congress and Obama won’t be subjected to the plan.

I thought about this and I’m not so sure about that.  Congress has their choice right now of about a dozen really good plans.  But aren’t they plans from private insurance companies?  I mean, they are plans like Blue Cross, HeathAmerica, etc.  If, as the experts say, this plan will force private insurance companies out of business, then won’t this eventually affect government employees?  If the insurance companies that are providing their fabulous plans go out of business, what will they do for insurance?  Go on the public plan? (in case you couldn’t her, I just snorted).

I am one of those lucky, lucky people who’s employer provides great coverage for not only myself but my entire family and I don’t have to pay a dime.  I KNOW I’m lucky.  For the past decade, I’ve considered this part of my salary (which is why I haven’t tried to get bigger raises).  If I am forced off my plan into the public option, and have to PAY for it to boot, isn’t that a severe salary cut?  I would lose about $15K a year in benefits.  What’s the difference between a cut like that and paying more in taxes.  Heck, I’ll probably be doing BOTH!
